From November 17 to 21, the XXVI interregional forum "Week of Women's Health" is taking place in Nizhny Novgorod — a large-scale event for medical professionals from across the Volga Federal District engaged in maternal and child health. The forum brought together not only obstetricians-gynecologists but also neonatologists, rehabilitation specialists, neurologists and doctors of other specialties, as well as mid-level medical staff.

As noted by the Ministry of Health of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, the forum has a reputation as a platform that sets strategic guidelines for the community of specialized professionals. Participants share advanced scientific developments and best practices. All of these efforts are aimed primarily at comprehensive solutions to demographic challenges and at improving the quality of life of women of all ages.

"The main value of our forum, which we are holding for the 26th time, is its ability not only to summarize results but also to shape new directions for development. We traditionally gather colleagues from across the Volga Federal District to discuss the most complex clinical cases, the nuances of preparing for pregnancy with pathologies such as endometriosis, and to present the latest scientific developments that will soon become standards of care," said Lyudmila Borovkova, Chair of the Nizhny Novgorod Society of Obstetricians-Gynecologists.

The first day of the event coincided with the International Day of Premature Babies, so the forum opened with a roundtable titled "Born Ahead of Time: A Healthy View of the Future." Professional discussions and candid dialogues between doctors and families were held at City Clinical Hospital No. 40 in Nizhny Novgorod. Parents received competent answers to their pressing questions and psychological support.

"Organizing such meetings within the walls of our perinatal center is important work for providing comprehensive assistance to families. For parents who are stressed by premature births, not only information but also a sense of community and the support of those who have already gone through this difficult path are extremely important. We see how such real human interaction gives them strength and confidence in their child's future," said Olga Manuilenko, Chief Physician of City Clinical Hospital No. 40.

The main focus of the forum's business program was a scientific and practical conference that addressed the key challenges of modern medicine. Specialists could join the thematic discussions either in person or online. Participants covered a wide range of topics — from personalized approaches in therapy and cancer-prevention strategies to the integration of digital technologies, such as telemedicine and artificial intelligence, into everyday medical practice.

Another important and traditional component of the forum was the "White Lotus" award ceremony. This year the award was presented at the regional level for the first time. The prize is a mark of recognition for the merits of medical organizations, doctors and public figures whose work makes an invaluable contribution to strengthening women's health and achieving the goals of the national demographic policy.

In the "For Contribution to the Profession" category, the award was given to Natalia Romanyuk, head of the department and obstetrician-gynecologist of the physiological obstetric delivery department of Maternity Hospital No. 4 in Nizhny Novgorod named after A.F. Dobrotina; in the "Talents in White Coats" category — Nizhny Novgorod native Anastasia Dogadova, a doctor of the highest category, gynecologist, mammologist, oncologist, trichologist and specialist in ultrasound diagnostics.

In addition, the "Breakthrough" award was given to the team of the Regional Perinatal Center operating at City Clinical Hospital No. 40 in Nizhny Novgorod.

According to the organizers, the "Week of Women's Health" forum will conclude with a specialized educational program for mid-level medical personnel. It will allow specialists to practice practical nursing care skills and improve communication with patients.

Recall that the protection of motherhood and childhood is one of the components of the new national project "Family." It is being implemented at the instruction of President Vladimir Putin and succeeds the earlier national projects "Demography" and "Culture." The national project envisages measures to promote the all-round development of families: expanding support measures, creating conditions for active longevity for the older generation, and ensuring quality and accessible medical care.
