      Additional explanatory work will be carried out with teachers and students on the issue of students visiting the toilet during lessons. This was reported by the Nizhny Novgorod Department of Education.

      It is noted that current education legislation does not contain a separate provision directly regulating the possibility of students leaving class to go to the toilet during lessons. On the basis of the general provisions of the law, it can be concluded that such bans violate the rights of students.

      "Students have the right to respect for human dignity, protection from all forms of physical and psychological violence, personal insults, and the safeguarding of life and health," the department said.

      The authorities' response was prompted by appeals from Russian schoolchildren to the head of the League for a Safe Internet, Ekaterina Mizulina. In one of the letters sent by children from School No. 85 in Nizhny Novgorod, it was reported that the school's principal had allegedly forbidden students to leave the classroom during lessons to use the toilet. The administration of School No. 85 later denied the existence of such restrictions.
