Nizhny Novgorod companies will receive another 94 million rubles through six programs of the Foundation for Assistance to Innovations.

      Federal funding in the form of grants under six programs of the Fund for Assistance to Innovations (FSI) has been approved for 28 more regional innovation projects* totaling 94 million rubles.

      According to Maxim Cherkasov, Minister of Industry, Trade and Entrepreneurship of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, the FSI programs give Nizhny Novgorod companies the opportunity to receive support at all stages of development — from the emergence of an idea to bringing a technological product to market.

      “For startups and early-stage teams, the ‘Start-1’ and ‘Start-Medical Devices-1’ competitions are in effect. Enterprises that already have a scientific and technical reserve can develop projects within the ‘Start-Industrial-1’ and ‘Start-2’ competitions. For more complex technological solutions, there is the ‘Development-NTI’ competition, focused on developments in the field of unmanned aerial systems. Support for young innovators also remains an important direction — the ‘Umnik’ competition helps form the personnel potential for technological development. Overall, under these programs residents of Nizhny Novgorod will receive grant support totaling 94 million rubles,” said Maxim Cherkasov.

      Under the ‘Start-1’ competition four projects were supported for a total of 20 million rubles; under the ‘Start-Medical Devices-1’ program — one project for 5 million rubles. Within the ‘Start-Industrial-1’ competition two projects received 10 million rubles in funding, and under the ‘Start-2’ program two projects received 20 million rubles. In the ‘Development-NTI’ direction one project was supported for 30 million rubles. In addition, 18 projects by young innovators from Nizhny Novgorod received grants totaling 9 million rubles in the ‘Umnik’ competition.

      Timur Radaev, head of the Ankudinovka technopark — the official FSI representative in the Nizhny Novgorod Region — said the technopark maintains ongoing interaction with Nizhny Novgorod companies interested in obtaining grant support to implement innovative developments. Since the beginning of 2025, 65 projects by Nizhny Novgorod developers have received about 131 million rubles in grant support under various FSI programs.

      According to the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia, the national project “Efficient and Competitive Economy” will become the main instrument for forming a new growth model. It includes federal projects aimed at the development of small and medium enterprises, increasing labor productivity, growth of investment activity, low-carbon development, and the development of the state system of statistics and forecasting. One of the main items of the national project “Small and Medium Entrepreneurship” was creating conditions for an easy start and comfortable operation of businesses. Work to support entrepreneurs in this area will continue this year within the national project “Efficient and Competitive Economy.”
