In Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, 2,486,000 rubles have been allocated in 2025 for the purchase of housing for orphaned children. This was reported on November 19 at a meeting of the Legislative Assembly committee on housing and utilities and energy by the region’s Minister of Social Policy, Igor Sedykh.

According to him, Nizhny Novgorod Oblast is held up as an example at the federal level for the annual amount of funds allocated for housing for orphans.

A total of about 800 apartments are planned to be purchased this year for this category of citizens. Of these, the purchase of 682 housing units will be financed through the Nizhny Novgorod Ministry of Construction, and about 90–100 more apartments will be provided to orphans thanks to the regional housing certificate.

"The amounts for housing repairs and for renting housing are increasing; overall the dynamics in addressing the problem are positive. If in 2023 we had 9,281 people on the register, by 2025 it is already 7,841," Sedykh noted.

Vladimir Bespalov, chairman of the relevant committee of the Legislative Assembly, stressed that the number of orphans in need of housing in the region is decreasing every year, which is encouraging.

It was previously reported that in 2025 Nizhny Novgorod Oblast plans to provide housing for 785 orphans.
