Productivity at a Nizhny Novgorod manufacturer of vehicle seats increased by 12% thanks to the federal project "Labor Productivity".

      17 November 2025 17:47 Economy Experts of the Regional Competence Center (RCC) summed up the results of implementing the tools of the federal project “Labor Productivity” of the national project “Effective and Competitive Economy” at a Nizhny Novgorod enterprise that manufactures seats for motor vehicles.

      The enterprise specializes in the production of seats for public transport, special-purpose vehicles and boats. The process of producing comfort-class seats was chosen as the pilot direction. That stream accounts for 23% of the company’s revenue.

      According to the Minister of Industry, Trade and Entrepreneurship of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Maxim Cherkasov, over six months of work RCC experts together with company employees analyzed the pilot shop’s operations and identified 40 bottlenecks, including unscheduled changes to production orders, excess inventory and time lost on reworking products.

      “RCC specialists together with the company’s project team developed a set of measures to optimize the pilot flow. In particular, they improved the accuracy of planning and the timeliness of order fulfillment, set quality requirements for manufactured semi-finished products, standardized components and product parts, and created an archive of drawings with automatic updates of changes. As a result of the implemented changes, output in the pilot flow increased by 12 percent,” Maxim Cherkasov said.

      RCC specialists also trained 37 company employees in lean technologies and prepared two internal trainers who will be able to train their colleagues independently in the future.

      In the Nizhny Novgorod Region the tools of the federal project “Labor Productivity” of the national project “Effective and Competitive Economy” are being implemented by 41 auto component manufacturers. A total of 302 regional companies are participants in the federal project.
