More than 1,000 people participated in volunteer gatherings in the region.
The Volunteer Center of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, with the support of the regional government, organized a series of intermunicipal gatherings for volunteers. Events that brought together more than 1,000 schoolchildren and students from 13 districts of the region were held in Vyksa, Knyaginino and Gorodets. Leaders of volunteer organizations, heads and rank-and-file members of municipal and school teams also joined them.
The gatherings were held as part of the implementation of the national project “Youth and Children” and the regional volunteer development program. The main goal of the events was to develop the volunteer movement, exchange best practices and support proactive young people.
Educational sessions were arranged for participants, where they were informed about existing state support measures for volunteers, including which universities in the region and the country give volunteers additional points for admission, and were introduced to successful regional practices.
A special emphasis was placed on generating new ideas. As part of the gatherings, team games and brainstorming sessions were held in which volunteers developed projects to engage young people in socially significant activities.
“Holding such volunteer gatherings is an important step in creating a unified volunteer community in the region. We not only train young people, but also give them the tools to create their own projects that will be useful for their hometowns and villages, and we collect the best ideas and practices and share our own. Such a live and creative exchange contributes to the effective and systematic development of volunteering in the region and helps involve young people in active volunteer work,” said Maria Samodelkina, General Director of the Volunteer Center of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.
The final volunteer gathering will take place in December, where the results of the year will be summed up and the winners of the third regional competition “Best Volunteer of the Nizhny Novgorod Region” will be announced.
It should be recalled that from 2025, on the instructions of President Vladimir Putin, the national project “Youth and Children” came into effect in Russia, carrying out tasks previously envisaged in the national projects “Education” and “Science and Universities.” The national project is aimed at creating opportunities for the development of talents and the self-realization of young people, and at fostering responsible and morally upright individuals. Special attention is paid to supporting talented youth, including young professionals.
The national project includes nine federal projects and programs: “Russia — Land of Opportunities,” “We Are Together,” “Russia in the World,” “All the Best for Children,” “Leading Schools,” “Teachers and Mentors,” “Creating a Network of Modern Campuses,” “Universities for the Generation of Leaders,” and “Professionalitet.” Support for volunteer activity is provided under the federal project “We Are Together.” The goal is to make volunteer work more organized and more beneficial through state support. In particular, the creation of volunteer support centers, the running of training courses and competitions are envisaged.
Projects requiring volunteers are presented on the website dobro.ru. Those who lack experience can take special training courses “Dobro.University.” The International #WEARETOGETHER Award is also held annually to draw attention to the work of volunteers.
