In the autumn of 2025, Russia will host a large-scale shopping event — "Black Friday." This is a period of global sales when stores offer goods at significant discounts. However, to get the most benefit, you need to prepare in advance, 360.ru marketer Elizaveta Lunina said.

"Black Friday" originated in the United States, where it was held after Thanksgiving. In 2025 it will take place on November 28. Some retailers start sales earlier to attract more customers. In the U.S. stores open at 5 a.m., and some even at midnight, offering discounts of up to 80% on the first purchases.

In Russia "Black Friday" became popular in the 2010s: the very first sale under the Black Friday banner took place on December 6, 2013. With the development of e-commerce, November became closely associated with bargain shopping.

Many Russian brands use the term "Black Friday" for sales throughout the year, which makes it difficult to determine the true start of the discount season.

On "Black Friday" you can find good deals in the following categories:

      - Gadgets and home electronics. Smartphones, laptops, TVs and large appliances are often sold at cost price. This is a great opportunity to save on expensive purchases.

      - Household appliances. Robot vacuum cleaners, humidifiers, smart climate systems and other appliances can be 30–40% cheaper.

      - Branded clothing and footwear. In brand stores you can find quality items with discounts that will last more than one season.

      - Premium cosmetics and perfumery. Luxury brands offer discounts on branded care sets that include several products.

      - Goods for hobbies and self-development. Professional painting kits, musical instruments, subscriptions to educational platforms — all of these can be purchased at significant discounts.

Marketplaces are one of the main venues for "Black Friday." However, it is important to be attentive here, as discounts can be uneven. Some sellers inflate prices before the sale and then offer allegedly promotional items.

Lunina advises studying prices for items of interest in advance, using comparison apps and looking for discounts on other platforms.

Tips for preparing for "Black Friday"

      - Make a shopping list. This will help avoid impulse purchases and focus on truly needed items.

      - Study offers in advance. It is best to do this one to two months before the sale.

      - Plan your budget. Determine how much you are willing to spend so as not to exceed your financial means.

      - Don’t give in to panic. "Black Friday" is a time when stores stimulate sales. It is important to stay calm and make well-considered decisions.

      - Use price comparison apps. This will help find the best deals and avoid overpaying.
