VC "Gorky" snatched a victory from MGTU

      Nizhny Novgorod volleyball players secured a hard-fought victory over the MGTU team from Moscow. The match was tense and went the full five sets — 3:2 (25:22; 25:23; 24:26; 17:25; 15:9).

      The hosts started the match confidently, winning the first two sets, but the Muscovites unexpectedly seized the initiative. MGTU snatched the end of the third set and then took the fourth.

      On the tie-break, "Gorky" grabbed the advantage from the first rallies. The final set went to the Nizhny Novgorod side — 15:9.

      This victory was the second in a row and the third of the season for Andrey Dranishnikov’s team. "Gorky" currently sits tenth in the standings.

      "Maybe today we somewhere believed too early that it was over, that the match was won. At 23:19 you should take the set, and when you give it away, of course the opponent understands that they can fight and battle, which they showed in the fourth set. And the fifth is, as we know, a lottery, and a string of some mistakes. Today we played it cleanly and carried it through to victory," noted the coach of the Nizhny Novgorod volleyball players.

      "Gorky" will play their next match on November 23 away against "Dynamo-LO".

      Earlier it was reported that "Torpedo-Gorky" conceded to "Chelmet" in the closing stages of a match.
