Twelve batches of imported vegetables and fruits infected with quarantine pests have been detected in the Nizhny Novgorod region. This was reported by the regional office of Rosselkhoznadzor for the region and the Republic of Mari El.
From January to October 2025, the agency's specialists inspected more than 11.5 thousand tons of fresh agricultural produce arriving from Iran, Azerbaijan, the Netherlands, Turkey, China, Egypt, India, Serbia, Italy, as well as Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
The total volume of inspected vegetables amounted to over 4.3 thousand tons. These included peppers, cabbage, onions, potatoes, beets and other crops. More than 7.1 thousand tons of fruits were also inspected, including grapes, cherries, avocados, apricots, nectarines and plums.
During the quarantine phytosanitary inspection, specialists found 12 batches infected with dangerous quarantine pests — brown scale, mulberry scale and California scale.
As the agency emphasized, the infected produce does not pose a phytosanitary threat to the territory of Russia. This is in accordance with the requirements established by the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission.
