Three employees of "Teploenergo" will be convicted over people falling into a pit of boiling water.
15 November 2025 13:02 Incidents. An investigation in Nizhny Novgorod has been completed into a criminal case against three former employees of JSC "Teploenergo". They are accused of providing services that did not meet safety requirements, which led to serious injuries to local residents. This was reported by the Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee for the Nizhny Novgorod Region. According to the investigation, on 24 February 2025 a pipeline burst on Pushkin Street, causing a hole with hot water to form on an unlit pedestrian walkway. Three city residents fell into it one after another, suffering severe burns. A forensic medical examination confirmed that the victims sustained moderate and severe bodily injuries. Investigators determined that the site foreman and two mechanics responsible for servicing the heat networks did not ensure their safe operation. They failed to detect the pipeline's hazardous condition in the Sovetsky District of the city and did not eliminate defects in its structural integrity. The gathered evidence was deemed sufficient to send the case to court. After a copy of the indictment is handed to the prosecutor, the materials will be forwarded for consideration on the merits. Earlier it was reported that a Nizhny Novgorod management company brought the entrance areas of an apartment building into order after a fine from the State Housing Inspectorate.
