Incidents. In Dzerzhinsk, police prevented an attempt to pass drugs into a temporary detention facility, the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Nizhny Novgorod Region reported.
During the inspection of a parcel intended for one of the detainees, police officers discovered a polymer-wrapped package with an unknown substance inside a garlic bulb. An examination showed that it contained a cannabis-group narcotic — marijuana weighing 0.81 grams.
On this fact, an investigator from Police Department No. 1 of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Dzerzhinsk has opened a criminal case under Part 1 of Article 228.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation — "Illegal manufacture, sale or shipment of narcotic drugs."
Police established that the prohibited substance had been attempted to be passed by a 40-year-old acquaintance of the arrestee. The woman had previously been criminally prosecuted for offenses against public health and public morality. A decision on a preventive measure against the suspect is currently being made.
Under current legislation, such a crime is punishable by imprisonment for a term of four to eight years.
The criminal investigation continues.
Earlier it was reported that drugs disguised as chocolate balls were attempted to be passed into Correctional Colony No. 20.
