More than 18 million rubles were allocated to renovate the neurology department of the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Neurological Hospital for War Veterans. Of these, about 15 million rubles were directed to major renovation work, and a further more than 3.5 million rubles to equip the spaces with modern furniture and equipment. As noted by the regional Ministry of Health, the modernization of the hospital’s structural subdivision was carried out entirely at the expense of the regional budget. This is not the first stage of the medical institution’s transformation: previously the hydrogen sulfide unit and the massage room were renovated here, and for the first time patients were also given the opportunity to receive treatment in a salt room. According to the chief physician of the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Neurological Hospital for War Veterans, Oleg Evstafyev, the neurology department is designed for 65 beds. During the renovation the entire complex of premises was completely transformed: corridors, wards, doctors’ offices, sanitary rooms and service blocks. To ensure maximum comfort for patients and the work of medical staff, functional furniture was purchased — cabinets, tables, chairs, sofas and medical couches. In addition, equipment in the food service distribution area was modernized, specialized pharmaceutical refrigerators for storing medicines were purchased, and a refrigerator for storing patients’ food was acquired.
“For us, doctors, this department is not just renovated walls and new furniture. It is a space of respect and care for those who gave part of their health in service to the Motherland. Each of our patients deserves not only qualified treatment but also decent, comfortable conditions for recovery. We understand the full measure of our responsibility to the veterans and see how a modern environment, combined with professional medical care, instills confidence in patients and gives them strength to fight illnesses,” emphasized the chief physician.
Patients appreciated the changes.
“I have been receiving treatment in this department for many years and was pleasantly surprised by the scale of the transformation. Bright rooms, new comfortable furniture, each bed has a lamp and sockets — everything is created for patients’ comfort. But what is especially valuable is that within the renewed walls we are still surrounded by the familiar and attentive faces of the medical staff who for many years help us maintain our health,” shared patient Oleg R.
Recall that carrying out repair work in the region’s medical institutions is one of the measures to improve the quality of medical care for residents. This is a broad task set for all regions of the country by the national project “Long and Active Life.” The new national project started in the country in 2025 by order of the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin. It is aimed at the expected increase in life expectancy by 2030 and envisages further renovation of polyclinics, outpatient centers and feldsher-midwife stations; attracting an increasing number of qualified medical personnel to healthcare institutions; applying new approaches in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of chronic diseases; improving emergency medical care and the rehabilitation system; developing a network of national research centers; and digitalizing the sector.
