Metropolitan Georgy performed the baptisms of six infants at the Nizhny Novgorod Cathedral.

      At the Spassky Staro-Yarmarochny Cathedral in Nizhny Novgorod on 9 November a solemn baptism of six infants took place. The sacrament was performed by Metropolitan Georgy of Nizhny Novgorod and Arzamas, the press service of the Nizhny Novgorod Metropolia reported.

      Two girls and four boys were baptized. After the rite, Metropolitan Georgy addressed the parents and godparents with parting words, stressing the importance of the spiritual birth that occurs through the sacrament of Baptism.

      The metropolitan congratulated those gathered on this significant event and reminded them that godparents take on a special responsibility—to be spiritual guides for the children on the path to faith.

      "I congratulate both the parents and the godparents. I wish that peace and well-being always reign in your families," the hierarch said in his address.

      As a sign of support, young families received commemorative gifts from the Nizhny Novgorod Diocese and the autonomous non-profit organization "Institute for Demographic Development."

      The institute's director, Evgeny Zhuravlev, noted that Metropolitan Georgy's participation in the baptisms of third children in families reflects an effort to strengthen spiritual and family values.

      Earlier it was reported that Nizhny Novgorod families celebrated National Unity Day together with the Institute for Demographic Development.
