On November 3 in Moscow the final stage of the annual "Altar of the Fatherland" campaign concluded. This was reported on his MAKH channel by Evgeny Lyulin, speaker of the Nizhny Novgorod Legislative Assembly.

These days he, representatives of the governments of Moscow and the Nizhny Novgorod Region, the Rosatom corporation and the Nizhny Novgorod community have been taking part in events dedicated to the feat of the Nizhny Novgorod militia in the capital. The delegation set out on October 31 along the route of the people's militia and passed through all the towns where Kuzma Minin and Dmitry Pozharsky inspired residents to take up the defense of the country.

As Lyulin noted, today the participants of the "Altar of the Fatherland" symbolically "entered" Moscow, as the Nizhny Novgorod militia did in 1612. Together with like-minded people from different regions they laid flowers at the monument to Minin and Pozharsky on Red Square. According to him, several eventful days are behind them, with numerous meetings and concerts in the towns during which participants came to feel like a united team and newly appreciated the trials their ancestors faced.

The head of the regional parliament also reminded that in the 17th century there were neither buses nor decent roads, yet the patriotic upsurge was so strong that at every stop new forces joined the militia. The route passed through Nizhny Novgorod, Kineshma, Yuryevets, Kostroma, Yaroslavl, Rostov and Sergiev Posad. Four centuries have passed since then, but, as the trip participants found, the tradition of popular unity that originated in Nizhny is still alive. In every town the performers were greeted with enthusiasm: people, the speaker said, have missed "homegrown" art.

Most importantly, he stressed, is that everywhere people remember the "Altar of the Fatherland" and honor the heroes of 1612. This means that the seeds sown a quarter of a century ago have borne fruit: monuments to the militia have appeared, films are being made, and traditions for celebrating National Unity Day have taken root. "But we must move forward," Lyulin added.

He clarified that he will not disclose the details of the plans yet, but intends to expand cooperation and promote the "Altar of the Fatherland" throughout Russia. According to him, it is important that people know and remember to whom they owe their independence and freedom, and that they be proud of the national heroes and our country.
