      Legendary musician Oleg "Sanych" Popov has died in Dzerzhinsk. His name is inseparably linked with the history of rock music in Dzerzhinsk. The death of the musician was reported on his Telegram channel by Dzerzhinsk blogger Alexey Alekseev.

      "For a long time he battled a serious illness. I express my condolences to his family and loved ones," Alekseev wrote.

      It is known that in recent years the musician had been battling cancer. At the end of May 2025, a benefit concert was held in Dzerzhinsk at the Sverdlov Palace of Culture in support of Oleg Popov. The city’s best-known musical groups and performers took part, including VIA Natantsy, Korsar, Starye Pertsy and many others. Admission to the concert was free; however attendees were asked to donate funds for the treatment of rock musician, producer and music festival organizer Oleg Popov.

      The editorial board of Komsomolskaya Pravda - Nizhny Novgorod expresses its condolences to the family and friends of Oleg Popov.
