Work has begun in Nizhny Novgorod to prepare ice rinks. About 100 ice rinks will be opened in the city this year, Mayor Yuri Shalabaev said on his social media.
Installation is already underway in Switzerland Park and 1st of May Park. These rinks will be equipped with artificial freezing systems, which will allow skating even at above‑freezing temperatures. They are scheduled to open in early December. Rinks will also appear in Avtozavodsky Park and, for the first time, in Dubki Park. There the ice will be natural, and the opening date will depend on weather conditions — approximately mid‑December.
Public skating sessions will also be organized at the Zarechye Sports Palace, at the Severnaya Zvezda facility, and at the Sormovo sports school.
In addition, 67 courtyard hockey rinks will be filled with ice. The ice at these sites will be natural, so the opening dates may vary depending on air temperature.
A further 24 rinks will appear on the grounds of municipal schools.
It was previously reported that 63 million rubles were allocated for the organization and operation of the rink in 1st of May Park. NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" has a Telegram channel.
