Police detained a Nizhny Novgorod resident with drugs in a wooded area.

      Police officers detained a 28-year-old resident of Nizhny Novgorod when he retrieved a "stash" in the strip of woodland on Fedoseenko Street. This was reported by the press service of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city.

      During a personal search, two packets with an unknown substance were found on the man. An examination showed that they contained the drug mephedrone, with a total mass of 1.571 grams.

      According to the police, the detainee had planned to sell the substance. A criminal case has been opened against him on charges under part 3 of article 30 and part 4 of article 228.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation — attempted illegal sale of narcotic drugs.

      During the preliminary investigation, the court ordered that the man be held in custody.

      Law enforcement officers remind residents of the region about the importance of participating in the fight against drug crime. If anyone has information about illegal drug trafficking, citizens are asked to report it to police duty units or by phone at 02 and 102.
