A resident of Ivanovo Region will be convicted for the death of a pedestrian in Nizhny Novgorod.

      The Prosecutor’s Office of the Nizhny Novgorod Region has approved an indictment in a criminal case against a 27-year-old resident of the Ivanovo Region. This was reported by the agency.

      The man is accused of a fatal collision with a pedestrian committed while intoxicated.

      According to the investigation, the tragedy occurred on the morning of 20 July 2025. The accused was driving a rented CHERY TIGGO7 PRO. At high speed the driver crossed into the oncoming lane, after which the car veered onto the sidewalk near building No. 16 on Lenin Avenue and struck a 25-year-old pedestrian. The young man died at the scene from his injuries.

      The criminal case has been sent to the Leninsky District Court of Nizhny Novgorod for consideration on the merits. He is charged under paragraph "a" of part 4 of Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation — violation of traffic rules while intoxicated that by negligence caused the death of a person.

      Earlier it was reported that the perpetrator of the fatal car-sharing crash in Sormovo was sentenced to five years.
