      Veteran of the special military operation Stanislav Sobolkin became a participant in the “Heroes. Nizhny Novgorod Region” program. After being wounded in 2024 he was declared unfit for service and discharged to the reserve, but he continued to look for ways to help the country. At first he applied to participate in the “Time of Heroes” program, then to the regional initiative for integrating veterans into the system of public administration.

      During his service Stanislav held the position of deputy platoon commander and led an assault unit. He noted the importance of managerial competencies required to unite fighters into a team. In his words, programs like “Heroes. Nizhny Novgorod Region” are needed in every region of Russia to give veterans the opportunity to continue serving the Motherland after returning from the front.

      Sobolkin expressed interest in legislative work and emphasized that training within the program allows participants to immerse themselves in the work of executive authorities. He noted the high level of preparation and professionalism of the speakers — Doctors of Sciences, ministers and deputy ministers.

      The “Heroes. Nizhny Novgorod Region” program is aimed at integrating and employing participants and veterans of the special military operation into the public administration system. In March 2025 an agreement on cooperation was signed between the government of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, RANEPA and KUPNO on the implementation of this program.

      Registration for participation ended on March 31. The selection campaign received 1,613 applications from Nizhny Novgorod residents. Based on questionnaires, testing, online and in-person interviews, 60 participants were selected for the main educational program and 30 people for inclusion in the next intake.

      The official opening of training under the program took place on August 4, 2025. The ceremony was attended by the Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Gleb Nikitin.
