"Today, as is traditional, we honor Nizhny Novgorod's farmers and processors. It is they who, by their labor, ensure the most important sovereignty — food sovereignty! The successes of agriculture are the basis for the development of industry and science. After all, no IT technology will ever replace a person's breakfast, lunch and dinner. We celebrated the holiday with achievements. Almost 2 million tonnes of grain have been harvested in the Nizhny Novgorod region. The average yield is 32 centners per hectare! And that is not a record, but the norm! The region is fully supplied with potatoes and vegetables. We are increasing production of milk, meat and poultry. Most importantly, the sector has changed qualitatively. I remember times when enterprises did not know how to pay salaries and were mired in debt. Now agriculture is more profitable than many other sectors. All state support is more than compensated by tax revenues to the budget," wrote Evgeny Lyulin, chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, on his social networks. A ceremonial event dedicated to the Day of the Agricultural Worker and the Processing Industry took place at the Nizhny Novgorod Fair on November 1.
"Investors have announced a hundred projects in our agro-industrial complex and are ready to invest 86 billion rubles! And we do not live in the Kuban, but in the Nizhny Novgorod Region, where as recently as 30 years ago the countryside was called a 'black hole' — no matter how much you invested, it would be useless. The labor of farmers and systematic state support have achieved what seemed impossible: people have started to believe in our villages! Not long ago we envied the Belarusians, who, starting from the same Soviet legacy as us, managed to create an agro-industry earning hundreds of millions of dollars. And today Nizhny Novgorod producers are already increasing exports. Mayonnaise, sauces, margarine, honey — are among Russia's top exports abroad. And this is only the beginning of a long journey. Farmers are showing others how to work under sanctions. They are switching to domestic machinery, technologies and seeds. They do not wait, but continue to move forward!" emphasized the speaker of the regional parliament.
