For the first nine months of 2025, the volume of auto loans issued in Russia fell by 45.5% compared with the same period in 2024. The total amount of auto loans amounted to 1.034 trillion rubles versus last year's 1.8 trillion, reports 360.ru.

According to the National Bureau of Credit Histories (NBKI), in the first nine months of 2025 the largest volumes of auto lending were observed in Moscow (93.4 billion rubles), the Moscow Region (83.7 billion rubles), Saint Petersburg (57.2 billion rubles), the Republic of Tatarstan (51.3 billion rubles) and Krasnodar Krai (50.7 billion rubles).

However, in 15 key regions of the country there was a particularly noticeable reduction in auto lending volumes. The leaders in this indicator were the Moscow Region (-48.2%), Moscow (-48.1%), Saint Petersburg (-46.8%), Chelyabinsk Region (-46.2%) and Rostov Region (-46.2%).

The NBKI explained that the decline in auto lending volumes in January–September 2025 was linked to rising market rates and an increase in the recycling fee, which was introduced in the second half of 2024. Volkov also noted that macroprudential restrictions on auto loans for borrowers with high debt burdens were introduced in the middle of last year, which also affected the situation.

Earlier an auto expert explained what to do in the event of a letter demanding additional payment of the recycling fee. NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" has a Telegram channel. Subscribe to stay informed about the main events, exclusive materials and timely information.
