Prospects for the work of the Nizhny Novgorod Center for the Development of Industrial Robotics were discussed at a specialized conference in Nizhny Novgorod.
On October 24, the I All-Russian Conference “Intelligent Mechanical Engineering” was held at the R. E. Alekseev Nizhny Novgorod State Technical University (NGTU), attended by more than 150 scientists, young researchers, business representatives and government officials.
The conference's key event was a round table dedicated to the creation of the Nizhny Novgorod Center for the Development of Industrial Robotics at the university. A federal grant of 295 million rubles has been secured for the project with the support of the Nizhny Novgorod Scientific and Educational Center (SEC).
From 2025, the center’s activities will be conducted within the federal project “Development of Industrial Robotics and Production Automation” of the national project “Means of Production and Automation,” initiated by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Ekaterina Solntseva, Deputy Chair of the Government of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, noted the strategic significance of the center for the region’s industrial development. According to her, the development of robotics is a deliberate growth vector that helps increase enterprise efficiency and address staffing issues.
R. E. Alekseev NGTU Rector Sergey Dmitriev emphasized that the university has a significant scientific and technical foundation and is focused on accelerated development and creation of competitive solutions in robotics.
The center plans to implement educational programs, scientific research and project activities. A team of 32 people has been formed, with an average age of 27.5 years. At the Russian Robotics Week in St. Petersburg, the center’s team took first place in the extreme robotics competition.
Center Director Sergey Mantserov reported that by 2030 it is planned to carry out research work totaling about 500 million rubles, prepare at least 30 intellectual property results, and create a showroom of robotic solutions and equipment for automating production processes.
The conference was also attended by Ruslan Akhmedov, head of the department at the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia’s Department of Machine Tool Building and Heavy Engineering, who spoke about measures of state support for technological leadership in the field of robotics and automation.
The conference continued in six sections, where issues of robotization of production processes were discussed. Participants were given a tour of the research laboratories at R. E. Alekseev NGTU.
Participants noted that the discussions and exchange of experience were an important stage in forming the region’s infrastructure in the field of robotization and digital transformation of industry.
The period from 2022 to 2031 has been declared the Decade of Science and Technology by decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin. The initiative’s goals are to attract young people to research, involve scientists in solving priority tasks, and increase public awareness of the achievements of domestic science.
