A woman from Perevoz will pay compensation for insulting a doctor online.

      A resident of Perevoz was ordered to delete an insulting post about a doctor on VKontakte and to pay him compensation for moral damages. This was reported by the press service of the Perevoz Interdistrict Court of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

      In his statement the plaintiff said that in April 2025, during his shift, the defendant arrived at the hospital with her mother. After an examination, measurement of vital signs and an ECG, no grounds for urgent hospitalization were found. The doctor recommended that the patient take the medications previously prescribed and visit the clinic the next day.

      A few days later the defendant posted on her VK page an insulting post about the doctor's work. He tried to resolve the matter by messaging her privately demanding that she remove the post. A pretrial claim was also sent, but the post was not removed.

      Later the doctor turned to the prosecutor's office and the court. A magistrate judge found the woman guilty of an administrative offense under Article 5.61 of the Russian Code of Administrative Offenses, but the case was closed due to the statute of limitations.

      After reviewing the case materials, the court concluded that the post contained insults, violated norms of decency and tarnished the doctor's professional reputation. The publication was accessible to an unspecified audience and could influence public opinion of him as a specialist.

      The court ordered the woman, within three days after the ruling takes effect, to delete the insulting post and to publish a retraction and an apology on her VKontakte page for a period of three months. In addition, the doctor was awarded 20,000 rubles in compensation for moral damages and 3,000 rubles in court costs.

      Earlier it was reported that authorities in the Nizhny Novgorod Region plan to include medical workers of ambulance response teams in the list of citizens eligible for free legal assistance.
