A roundup of illegal immigrants was staged in Nizhny Novgorod — video

      A joint raid by law enforcement agencies aimed at uncovering violations of migration laws was carried out in Nizhny Novgorod. This was reported by the regional Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee.

      Investigators from the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod Region, officers from the regional directorates of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD), the FSB and the National Guard (Rosgvardiya) took part in the operation.

      The raid was prompted by the investigation of a criminal case under Article 322.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation — organizing illegal migration by a group of persons by prior agreement. Investigative actions are being carried out as part of efforts to identify additional episodes of criminal activity.

      Checks were carried out at construction sites in the city. As a result, the documents of over 38 foreign nationals were checked. Some of them were handed over to the Nizhny Novgorod Region military commissariat for military registration. The others were taken to a police station.

      It turned out that some migrants were in Russia illegally. Administrative protocols were drawn up against them; the question of deportation from the country is being considered.

      Earlier it was reported that about fifty migrants would be expelled from the country after the raid in Nizhny Novgorod.
