Treatment is continuing in Arzamas for students of the "Sozvezdie" school who became ill with norovirus. As reported to NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" by the Ministry of Health of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, as of the morning of October 23, 17 children remain hospitalized.

The patients are in mild to moderate condition. Doctors note positive progress. Some children have already been transferred to outpatient care.

"Patients are receiving all necessary medical care and are under close medical supervision," the ministry added.

Recall that an acute intestinal infection was detected among food service staff and some students. Because of this, the institution was closed for quarantine and students were moved to distance learning. Rospotrebnadzor immediately launched an inspection.

The Investigative Committee and the prosecutor's office have taken an interest in the situation. A criminal case has been opened over the mass poisoning. The progress of the investigation is being monitored by the head of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Alexander Bastrykin.

According to specialists, the mass poisoning may have occurred due to improper food storage.
