Residents of Prioksky District improved school grounds with the help of community social workers

      Three educational institutions in the Prioksky district of Nizhny Novgorod received renovated grounds thanks to a joint initiative by local residents and social district officers. The work was carried out under the participatory budgeting program "You Decide!".

      Residents turned to social district officers for support; they helped collect the necessary documents and signatures to submit applications. As a result, three sites were promptly included in the improvement plan.

      By the start of the new school year, contractors completed asphalting of the grounds at Kindergartens No. 413 at 21A 40 Let Oktyabrya Street and No. 440 at 7 Zhukova Street. About two thousand square meters were asphalted on the grounds of Kindergarten No. 440, and 800 meters of curbstone were installed.

      "The governor's 'You Decide!' project is truly important. It allows residents to decide for themselves what needs to be improved and to take part in that process. Thanks to concerned people and the active work of the social district officers, the kindergarten's grounds have been noticeably transformed," said the head of Kindergarten No. 440, Elena Petrova.

      Local residents welcomed the changes. According to one resident, Galina, the asphalt on the kindergarten grounds was previously severely damaged and puddles formed after rain. Now the paths have become safe and convenient for children and parents.

      In addition, School No. 154 at 2 40 Let Oktyabrya Street received a renovated sports ground. The old surface was removed, the base was poured with concrete, then a polyurethane coating was applied and new fencing was installed.

      "Children are our future, and they should grow up in a comfortable environment. We helped the residents of the Prioksky district take part in the project to improve conditions in the kindergartens and the school," noted social district officer Ekaterina Ulybina.

      The "You Decide!" program has been operating in the Nizhny Novgorod region for 12 years. In 2025, the region plans to implement 462 initiatives selected as a result of the most recent competitive selection.

      The "Social District Officer" project, launched on the governor's initiative in 2023, operates in Nizhny Novgorod and several other towns in the region — Kstovo, Dzerzhinsk, Arzamas and Bogorodsk. Its goal is to establish ongoing feedback with the population.

      Since the project's inception more than 607,000 questionnaires have been collected and over 177,000 citizen inquiries have been received. More than half of them have already been resolved. More than 800 events have also been organized, including sports festivals, workshops and campaigns in support of the SVO.

      It was previously reported that more than 80% of residents of the Nizhny Novgorod region consider the activities of the social district officers effective.
