Almost 15,000 Nizhny Novgorod schoolchildren and their parents visited colleges and technical schools participating in the federal "Professionalitet" program as part of the Unified Open House Day. This year the nationwide event covered 49 institutions of secondary vocational education in the region. Each of them offered informative tours and professional master classes for prospective students and their families.
According to the regional Ministry of Education and Science, students from nearly 650 Nizhny Novgorod schools took part in the Unified Open House Day.
"Today one in three ninth-grade students chooses Nizhny Novgorod colleges and technical schools to continue their educational journey. We are doing extensive work to modernize SVE institutions, and the federal 'Professionalitet' program within the national project 'Youth and Children' provides very strong support. Already 16 'Professionalitet' clusters have been created in our region. We continue to work and look forward to the opening of new program sites," said Mikhail Puchkov, Minister of Education and Science of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast.
He said that the 'Professionalitet' educational programs are very popular among applicants because they are developed in collaboration with industry professionals. Anchor enterprises give graduates opportunities to do internships and provide promising employment prospects, sometimes even while students are still in the senior years of their programs.
As part of the Unified Open House Day, guests were offered more than 60 tours of educational sites, modern "Professionalitet" workshops and laboratories. Future applicants also took over 400 professional assessments and were able to evaluate their knowledge and abilities. Parents received comprehensive information about admission to SVE institutions at parent meetings and in class sessions on the theme: "Professionalitet – You're in Good Company."
For example, at the Spassky Agro-Industrial Technical College the students immersed themselves in the world of the modern agro-industrial complex. They were shown the "Agricultural Machinery Park" and were also invited to the employer's site — the SPK named after Budyonny.
A culinary master class "Sweet Masterpiece" was also held for everyone interested. Under the guidance of teachers and students, guests created their own confectionery products and were convinced that the art of cooking is true creativity.
"Today colleges and technical schools are a path to the future, where theory instantly turns into practice, where graduates after ninth grade are met by modern workshops, leading partner enterprises and in-demand professions. We don't just teach — we cultivate real professionals needed by our country," summarized Alexander Klochkov, director of the Spassky Agro-Industrial Technical College.
At the Dzerzhinsk Pedagogical Technical College, ten master classes were held during the Unified Open House Day to develop the professional skills and career orientation of future applicants.
One of the most memorable sessions for the students was the master class "From Handwriting Practice to Calligraphy." Senior students demonstrated to schoolchildren various unconventional methods for teaching writing used by primary school teachers in their practice: "secret writing," "writing by guide points," "writing along guide lines," and "velvet letters."
"I have never tried writing in a calligraphic hand before. I think I'm doing pretty well. I never suspected that a college could teach such an art. I also liked the teacher's role — I think that profession interests me the most when choosing a future path," shared Alina Utkina, a schoolgirl from Dzerzhinsk.
More about the federal project "Professionalitet," the educational institutions and the leading participating companies can be found on the YAPROF.RF platform. There you can also find information about colleges in a specific region, in-demand professions and employment prospects for graduates.
Recall that since 2025 the federal project "Professionalitet" has been included in the new national project "Youth and Children." It is being implemented at the behest of the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, and fulfills tasks previously envisaged in the national projects "Education" and "Science and Universities." The new national project includes nine federal projects and programs: "Russia — the Land of Opportunities," "We Are Together," "Russia in the World," "All the Best for Children," "Leading Schools," "Teachers and Mentors," "Creating a Network of Modern Campuses," "Universities for a Generation of Leaders," and "Professionalitet."
