      At Zarechnaya metro station the turnstiles have been upgraded — it was from here that the mass replacement of outdated equipment that had exhausted its technical life began. This was reported by MetroNN on its Telegram channel.

      Most of the turnstiles in the Nizhny Novgorod subway were manufactured back in 1973, before the metro opened in 1985.

      The supplier of the new equipment was the company Infomat from Kazan. Its turnstiles are already installed at such large facilities as Zaryadye Park, the VTB Arena and VEB Arena stadiums, Vnukovo Airport, and also in the Novosibirsk metro.

      The updated devices will increase station throughput by up to 40%. This is achieved by narrower housings, the ability to pass through from both sides, and a convenient payment area. The turnstiles are equipped with light indicators for payment status, vibration feedback for the visually impaired, and a biometric payment function.
