The administration of Nizhny Novgorod plans to open a fourth branch of the Maxim Nastin Military-Patriotic Education Center. The Department of Social Policy is currently selecting a suitable premises in the Leninsky District, Acting Director of the department Lyubov Gavrilova said at a meeting of the City Duma commission on patriotic education on October 20.
According to her, the center was created in 2022 as a structural subdivision of the municipal institution "Nadezhda". The first branch began operating on Malaya Yamskaya Street in the Nizhegorodsky District. In May 2024 the second unit opened on 40 Years of Victory Street in the Prioksky District. It was the first to open a school for future unmanned aerial vehicle operators. In 2025 the third branch began operating on Hero Vasiliev Street in the Avtozavodsky District.
"In October 2024 the center was officially given the name of Maxim Nastin — a graduate and platoon commander of the military-patriotic camp 'I Want to Become a Paratrooper'," Gavrilova noted.
The center is aimed at children and adolescents aged 10 to 17. Its work includes three main areas: spiritual and moral and ideological education, basic military and physical training, and psychological and legal support for both children and their families.
The chairman of the City Duma, a veteran of the Special Military Operation, Evgeny Chintsov, recalled that Maxim Nastin was a graduate of the reconnaissance brigade he commanded. He proposed inviting participants of the center to perform for the brigade's fighters on November 5 at the celebration of Military Intelligence Day.
It should be noted that the commission on patriotic education, youth policy, physical culture and sport appeared in the City Duma in September 2025, after the formation of the City Duma of the first convocation.

Torpedo-Gorky hockey players came from behind to beat Rostov in a VHL regular-season game. The match ended 5:3 in favor of the Nizhny Novgorod side.
The game began badly for the Gorky team. The side took a penalty for too many men on the ice and conceded a goal — 0:1. Rostov defended confidently and earned another power play. However, a few minutes before the intermission Anton Kosolapov equalized — 1:1.
In the second period the hosts seized the initiative, creating a number of chances, but the visitors’ goalkeeper played well. On the 27th minute Rostov went ahead — 1:2. However, the end of the period belonged to Torpedo-Gorky. In 125 seconds the team scored three goals and took the lead — 4:2. Kirill Svishtyov, Yegor Nikitin and Nikolai Mayorov were on the scoresheet.
In the third period Rostov pulled one back. Not willing to give up, the visitors pulled their goalie for a sixth attacker late in the game, but this resulted in a fifth conceded goal. Gleb Chesnokov scored into the empty net — 5:3.
The farm club sits seventh in the regular-season standings with 23 points.
Torpedo-Gorky will play their next game at home again. On October 23 the Avtozavodtsy will face Voronezh’s Buran.
Earlier it was reported that Ilya Chefanov scored four goals and helped Torpedo-Gorky beat Tambov.
