In the Nizhny Novgorod region, thanks to the attentiveness of a bank employee, a major financial loss was prevented — a pensioner had almost transferred 500,000 rubles to fraudsters. This was reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the region.
The perpetrators acted according to a well-known scheme. An unknown person called the elderly woman and, posing as a specialist, claimed it was necessary to urgently declare her savings. Under this pretext he convinced her to withdraw all her savings and transfer them to a so-called "safe" account.
However, the bank employee's vigilance played a key role. The woman noticed that the client was clearly agitated and acted uncertainly. Suspecting something was wrong, she began to question the pensioner and managed to persuade her not to make the transaction.
After that the employee immediately contacted the police. Thanks to her actions, an attempt at large-scale fraud was prevented.
A criminal case has been opened into the incident on charges of attempted large-scale fraud.
The Nizhny Novgorod Regional Police reminds: do not transfer money to "safe" accounts. This is a common trick used by phone scammers. Be vigilant and do not fall for such provocations.
Earlier it was reported that a resident of Sarov lost almost 22 million rubles after transferring money to a so-called "safe" account. NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" has a Telegram channel. Subscribe to stay informed of major events, exclusive materials, and timely information.
