During the night of October 18, acceptance and departure of aircraft at the Chkalov Nizhny Novgorod Airport were temporarily suspended. According to Rosaviatsia, the reason was measures to ensure flight safety due to the threat of a drone attack.
The restrictions took effect at 2:45. During that time, two flights bound for Nizhny Novgorod had to be diverted to other airfields.
By 5:34 the restrictions were lifted, and the airport resumed normal operations.
Similar security measures had already been implemented the previous days — on October 15 and 17.
Recall that on the night of October 14, three drones were shot down over the skies of the Nizhny Novgorod region. Their debris damaged one of the energy infrastructure facilities.
