      Law enforcement officers suppressed the activities of a criminal syndicate that also operated in Nizhny Novgorod Oblast. This was reported by the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, Irina Volk.

      According to the information, the communication system operated across 11 federal subjects. Terminal operators worked under the direction of anonymous handlers located outside Russia. They offered Russian residents part‑time work via messaging apps, supposedly in the field of technical support for small businesses.

      Applicants were given subscriber terminals that operated either with installed SIM cards or without their physical presence. Such equipment allowed foreign criminals to anonymously call from numbers of Russian telecom operators in order to commit crimes. Employees of the Bureau of Special Technical Measures, together with officers of the FSB of Russia and police from the Chuvash Republic, Arkhangelsk, Ivanovo, Lipetsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Saratov, Sverdlovsk, Tver and Tula oblasts, were able to suppress the criminals’ activities. A total of 11 people who may be involved in criminal activity were taken to the police. The investigation continues.
