Vadim Bulavinov: "School museums greatly influence the formation of students' sense of patriotism."
October 17, 2025 09:38 Society The All-Russian contest of school museums was held for the sixth time. In the final, 169 general education institutions competed for the titles of "Best Urban Museum" and "Best Rural Museum." Ninety-two museums were among the winners.
In the Volga Federal District, first place was taken by the museum of MBOU "Gymnasium No. 38" in Dzerzhinsk. The exhibition is titled "About the Motherland. About Courage. About Glory." A delegation from the Nizhny Novgorod regional branch of the United Russia party, led by Vadim Bulavinov, came to see the best school museum in the Volga Federal District.
"I want to express my gratitude to everyone who took part in creating this wonderful museum: the school principal, the teachers, the parents and, of course, the students themselves. It would be wonderful if similar exhibitions appeared in every educational institution. School museums have a strong impact on forming a sense of patriotism in young people. And this, in turn, helps them to better understand the history of Russia. This is how the foundation of a person's inner spirit is laid, and in a few years those people will become adults and actively participate in the life of their country," emphasized Vadim Bulavinov, a State Duma deputy for the Nizhny Novgorod Region and the regional coordinator of the party project "Historical Memory."
The "Know to Remember" contest is held by United Russia as part of the party project "Historical Memory." The event is aimed at supporting and developing museum activities in general education institutions, preserving historical memory and fostering patriotism among the younger generation. In line with these objectives, a competitive selection of winners is conducted.
"The idea for the museum grew out of an important tradition at our school. Each year we hold a commemorative event dedicated to the gymnasium graduate Anatoly Galchin, who died in Beslan. Over the years we accumulated a lot of interesting historical material, and we decided that a special space needed to be created. That is how the school museum exhibition 'About the Motherland. About Courage. About Glory' came into being," said Ekaterina Shchepina, principal of MBOU "Gymnasium No. 38" in Dzerzhinsk.
Each contest winner will receive a grant for museum development ranging from 200,000 to 500,000 rubles. The administration of Gymnasium No. 38 in Dzerzhinsk plans to spend the prize money on acquiring modern equipment. An interactive display will make the exhibition even more attractive and informative and will help present all the collected information to visitors as fully as possible. It is important to note that entire families took part in the work of creating the museum.
"We decided to involve not only the students but also their parents. Our proposal received an active response. It turned out that in many families of our pupils the memory of past generations is carefully preserved. Most importantly, the children were very excited about delving into their relatives' history. When they gave presentations, you could see genuine interest and pride in everyone's eyes," said Yulia Vasileva, deputy principal for educational work at MBOU "Gymnasium No. 38" in Dzerzhinsk.
Georgy Dikov and his mother, Inna Dikova, did extensive work to create a video dedicated to his grandfather and great-grandfather, Anatoly Ivanovich Saveliev.
"This project allowed us to communicate more with the family, and I learned a lot of new things about my great-grandfather. During the war he worked at one of the largest factories in Dzerzhinsk. From the 1960s, for more than 20 years he was its director," said Georgy Dikov, a student at MBOU "Gymnasium No. 38" in Dzerzhinsk.
"We found documentary evidence of my grandfather's activities: documents, old photographs, and we sorted through archives. We turned to memories: my grandfather told me a lot about himself and his life, and I asked my mother and her sister about certain moments," explained the student's mother, Inna Dikova.
Recall that the "Historical Memory" project is aimed at implementing United Russia's national program. The project's goals are to preserve Russia's historical and cultural heritage, promote patriotic education of youth, counter attempts to falsify history, and provide social support to participants and disabled veterans of the Great Patriotic War.
