On 15 October in Moscow, at the National Center "Russia", a solemn ceremony was held to award the winners of the All-Russian "Family of the Year" contest. The country's best families, including the large Yezhov family from Arzamas in the Nizhny Novgorod Region, received winner diplomas in various categories.
As the regional Ministry of Social Policy reported, the Nizhny Novgorod residents were recognized as one of the best in the "Family — Keeper of Traditions" category. The award was presented to the family by the Minister of Labour and Social Protection of the Russian Federation, Anton Kotyakov.
Recall that the Yezhov family is raising five children. The head of the family, Dmitry Viktorovich, is an ophthalmologist who provides volunteer medical assistance to people with disabilities, low-income individuals, and participants of the special military operation. His wife, Vera Maksimovna, is a teacher of English and German, a mother of many children, and also a childbirth instructor; she enjoys Eastern martial arts, swimming, and volleyball. One of the family's core values is traditions. Dmitry Viktorovich continues a dynasty of doctors, and Vera Maksimovna is a teacher in the fifth generation.
They were unable to travel to the capital to receive the award as a full family for a valid reason: the spouses stayed home because any day now another baby will be born — it will be the sixth child in their family. Therefore, the older children visited the capital together with their grandmothers.
"I never cease to be proud of our large families! Nizhny Novgorod residents always represent the region with dignity at the all-Russian level. I wholeheartedly congratulate you on this well-deserved award! Your large, close-knit family with traditions is a vivid example for everyone. You have proven that having many children is a source of inspiration and strength, a reliable support and comfort of close hearts. May your victory become an impetus for new achievements and bright events in life," said Igor Sedykh, Minister of Social Policy of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.
Other families from various parts of Russia received awards in the categories "Large Family", "Young Family", "Rural Family", "Golden Family" and "Family of the Defender of the Fatherland".
Recall that in 2025 the "Family of the Year" contest was held for the tenth time. Almost 11,000 families participated. Following the regional stages of the contest, 460 applications from across the country were submitted to and reviewed by the organizing committee.
The competition aims to support families with children and to strengthen family values in the country. This is one of the most important directions of work within the new national project "Family".
The national project "Family" has been implemented in Russia since 2025 at the initiative of the country's President, Vladimir Putin. It succeeds the previously operating national projects "Demography" and "Culture" and includes measures that contribute to the comprehensive development of families: expanding support measures, creating conditions for active longevity of the older generation, and ensuring quality and accessible medical care.
