Five students of the Arzamas "Sozvezdie" school are in hospital with an acute intestinal infection. This was reported on his Telegram channel by the mayor of the Arzamas urban district, Alexander Shchelokov.
According to him, there were no new admissions to inpatient care overnight.
Earlier Shchelokov said that a total of eight cases of intestinal infection had been registered among pupils of the educational center. The school was closed for quarantine and the children were switched to distance learning.
Rospotrebnadzor officials began investigating the causes of the incident. It turned out the outbreak was caused by norovirus. It was found in the canteen staff and the sick students.
"It is confirmed in those hospitalized, in four of the 21 monitored as outpatients and in four employees," explained the head of the Arzamas district.
Final disinfection is being carried out at the school. The Department of Education has been instructed to strengthen control over the operation of all school canteens.
Recall that a criminal case has been opened over the norovirus outbreak. The progress of the investigation is under the supervision of the prosecutor's office.
