A man from Nizhny Novgorod burned an acquaintance's truck over an old grudge.

      In Nizhny Novgorod, the investigation into a criminal case concerning the arson of a vehicle that took place in the autumn of 2022 has been completed, the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod Region reports.

      According to the investigation, on the evening of 8 October a 42-year-old local resident, while intoxicated, approached a Valdai truck parked by a house on Puteyskaya Street. He opened the driver’s door, poured diesel fuel onto the seat and set the interior on fire. The fire spread quickly and the vehicle burned out completely. It is beyond repair.

      During operational activities, the police were able to establish the identity of the suspect. He turned out to be a 42-year-old unemployed man. At his interrogation he confessed to the act and said he decided to set the fire because of a long-standing conflict with the vehicle’s owner. According to him, they had had an argument after which he held a grudge.

      The man has been charged. He fully admitted his guilt.

      The investigation is complete. The case materials have been sent to the Kanavinsky District Court for consideration on the merits.

      Earlier it was reported that the cause of a fire in an apartment building on Heroes of Cosmonauts Street may have been arson.
