About the City
The Nizhny Novgorod maniac who made dolls from the bodies of dead girls will remain in a psychiatric hospital until November 2025. The court extended the period of treatment. This was reported by SHOT.
Anatoly Moskvin, who was found guilty of desecrating corpses and declared insane, is not going to be discharged from the psychiatric hospital in the near future. The Leninsky Court of Nizhny Novgorod in May 2025 again extended the period of his compulsory treatment until November of this year.
In July 2011 several dozen bodies of girls were found in Moskvin’s apartment; he had dug them up from cemeteries and used them to make dolls. After his arrest an examination declared him legally incapacitated, and the diagnosis was paranoid schizophrenia.
Since then he has been undergoing treatment. At the same time his health has noticeably deteriorated: his speech has slowed, his gait is impaired, and his vision has worsened. Since childhood Moskvin was interested in cemeteries and rituals, and at 13 he attended the funeral of a girl where, according to the perpetrator himself, he was forced to kiss the deceased. At the trial he said that he made mummies to compensate for the absence of a daughter in his life.
Since the diagnosis was established the court has regularly extended the period of treatment. Criminal liability was lifted by court decision.
