In Nizhny Novgorod, beds and soft furnishings were updated simultaneously in three medical institutions. These are City Clinical Hospital No. 39, City Hospital No. 35 and City Clinical Hospital No. 5.
As the regional Ministry of Health reminded, the purchase was financed from the regional budget. In addition to hospitals, furniture and bedding are being renewed in the region’s social institutions. This decision was made by the Governor of Nizhny Novgorod Region, Gleb Nikitin.
“For each patient, the conditions in which they receive treatment are extremely important. New furniture and a cozy environment have a positive effect on the rehabilitation process and the emotional state of Nizhny Novgorod residents,” the regional Ministry of Health emphasized.
City Clinical Hospital No. 5 received 270 standard and 50 functional medical beds. The functional beds were sent to the neurology department for patients who had suffered an acute cerebrovascular event. Additional bed linen was also purchased.
City Clinical Hospital No. 39 was supplied with 20 functional and 215 general hospital beds. All standard beds are equipped with new mattresses and pillows; 430 sets of bed linen were purchased.
As the hospital’s chief physician, Vladimir Makarov, noted, the renewal of the bed stock became an important stage in the modernization of the inpatient facility.
“Modern functional beds are especially important in departments where patients require special care and long-term rehabilitation. This not only increases patient comfort but also eases the work of medical staff. We are grateful to the regional government for its support and for such a large-scale replenishment of our bed stock,” he said.
City Hospital No. 35, in turn, received 20 functional and 270 medical beds complete with mattresses and pillows, as well as more than 500 sets of bed linen. The new furniture has already been installed in the hospital’s departments.
The regional Ministry of Health summed up that a total of about 30 million rubles was allocated for the needs of the three hospitals. All the changes are intended to improve the quality of medical care provided — this is one of the main objectives of the new national project “Longer and Active Life.”
The national project “Longer and Active Life” has been implemented in the country since 2025 at the direction of the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin. It carries out tasks previously envisaged in the national project “Healthcare.” The new national project is aimed at the expected increase in life expectancy by 2030 and envisages further renovation of polyclinics, outpatient clinics, feldsher-midwife stations, attracting an increasing number of qualified medical personnel to medical institutions, applying new approaches in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of chronic diseases, improving emergency medical care and the rehabilitation system, developing a network of national research centers, and digitizing the sector.
