      In the Nizhny Novgorod region, a court has sentenced a resident of the Gorodetsky District who was found guilty of murdering a woman with particular cruelty. This was reported by the press service of the Nizhny Novgorod prosecutor's office.

      According to the investigation, the tragedy occurred in September 2024 in an apartment on Melioratorov Street in Gorodets. The man came to visit an acquaintance, and during the gathering a conflict broke out between them.

      During the quarrel he attacked the woman and inflicted more than 60 blows with various objects that were at hand. Among them were knives and forks. She died at the scene from her injuries. After that the man attempted to flee and left the region.

      However, criminal investigators quickly established his whereabouts and detained him in another region.

      The court sentenced him to 14 years in a strict-regime penal colony. In addition, after his release his freedom will be restricted for another one and a half years.

      Earlier it was reported that a Nizhny Novgorod opposition activist was sentenced to 10 years in a strict-regime penal colony for the murder, dismemberment, and burning of his own father's body.
