October 13, 2025, 16:47 Culture and Leisure The government of the Nizhny Novgorod region has officially approved the procedure for granting subsidies to the regional branch of the Union of Writers of Russia. The corresponding decree was signed on October 9, 2025.
The document notes that the financial support will be aimed at developing literary creativity in the region. It is expected that the provision of the subsidy will result in an increase in the number of citizens involved in literary and creative activities in the region.
The funds may be used to pay salaries, cover travel expenses, purchase equipment and materials, hold one-off events, and for other needs related to the statutory activities of the organization.
The decision to allocate funds will be made by the Ministry of Culture after an application is submitted and a review is completed. In the event of a breach of the agreement's terms or failure to achieve the stated results, the organization will be required to return the funds to the regional budget.
It was previously reported that Zakhar Prilepin was elected chairman of the board of the Nizhny Novgorod regional branch of the Union of Writers of Russia. The organization has been housed in the restored Shchelokov House in Nizhny Novgorod, which is a cultural heritage site of regional significance.
