An elderly resident of Arzamas became the victim of a fraudulent scheme and lost a large sum of money. Deceiving the woman under the pretext that her account on the state services portal had been hacked, the fraudsters convinced her to transfer funds, after which they stole 866,000 rubles. This was reported by the press service of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.
It turned out that the money was transferred to a bank account registered to a resident of Naberezhnye Chelny in the Republic of Tatarstan. Law enforcement opened a criminal case, during which they were able to identify the owner of the account that received the stolen funds.
To restore the violated rights of the victim, the Arzamas City Prosecutor’s Office filed a lawsuit to recover unjust enrichment. The court granted the prosecutor’s claims and ordered the full amount of the loss to be returned to the pensioner.
The supervisory authority continues to monitor the actual enforcement of the court decision and the process of returning the funds to the complainant.
Earlier it was reported that the prosecutor’s office of the Avtozavodsky District of Nizhny Novgorod identified significant violations of anti-corruption legislation by one of the EMERCOM employees.
