A new street camera in downtown Nizhny Novgorod recorded more than 2,500 traffic violations by e-scooter users in a month. This was reported to pravda-nn.ru by the Ministry of Digital Development of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.
In 2,469 cases e-scooter riders crossed the pedestrian crossing without dismounting from the scooter. Another 192 violations concerned riding two or even three people on a single personal mobility device.
Recall that in the summer an updated camera was installed at the intersection of Minin and Nesterov streets that tracks traffic violations specifically for e-scooters. The company Fractal upgraded its intelligent system Argentum, adding an automatic recognition feature for such situations.
Now the device can detect different types of violations — from crossing at a crosswalk to moving through prohibited zones, including the Kremlin grounds and Bolshaya Pokrovskaya Street. All data are recorded automatically without human involvement.
The Nizhny Novgorod Region became the first region in the country where such a control system was implemented. Regulatory acts are currently being prepared that will allow fines to be issued for such violations.
Earlier it was reported that cameras on Gagarin Avenue and the Oksky Descent began to record drivers using phones. Also, a camera for the dedicated lane began operating on Lenin Avenue.
