The Ministry of Health has simplified access to the compulsory health insurance system for private clinics in Nizhny Novgorod.

October 8, 2025, 09:39 — Society. The Ministry of Health of Russia has revised the rules for admitting private medical organizations to participate in the compulsory medical insurance (OMS) system, easing a number of requirements. This was reported by the representative of healthcare in the Nizhny Novgorod region, Alexey Nikonov, on his Telegram channel.

According to the updated conditions, a private clinic in Nizhny Novgorod can now be rejected during selection only if violations were recorded in its activities over the past two years that led to a deterioration in patients’ conditions or created a risk of disease progression.

Thus, the Ministry of Health has made the process of including private institutions in the OMS system more accessible, which may contribute to the expansion of medical services for the population.

At the same time, the agency has tightened requirements for private organizations providing emergency medical services. In addition to the mandatory three years of experience in this field, they must now also hold a license to use narcotic drugs necessary for providing emergency care.

Earlier it was reported that a private clinic in Nizhny Novgorod raised prices without warning patients.

It was also reported that Nizhny Novgorod medics supported the idea of reducing the role of medical insurance companies in the compulsory medical insurance system.
