A Nizhny Novgorod entrepreneur was given a two-year suspended sentence for the death of a worker.

      In Nizhny Novgorod, a court found an individual entrepreneur guilty of violating occupational safety rules that, through negligence, led to the death of a worker.

      The investigation by the department for the Avtozavodsky district of the city of Nizhny Novgorod of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod Region collected evidence that the court considered sufficient to issue a guilty verdict. The entrepreneur was convicted under Part 2 of Article 143 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation — "violation of occupational safety requirements resulting in the death of a person through negligence."

      Investigators established that the tragedy occurred on December 25, 2024, in a production facility on Mostootryada Street. During the pressing of plastic waste, a mechanical press crushed the worker's head. The man died at the scene from his injuries.

      The investigation showed that the entrepreneur allowed the worker to operate the hydraulic press without the necessary training and without verification of knowledge of safety rules. It was this violation of occupational safety requirements that led to the fatal outcome.

      The court sentenced the man to a two-year suspended prison sentence with a two-year probationary period.

      Earlier it was reported that the Investigative Committee is investigating the death of a worker in Zavolzhye after electrocution.
