      The forum on the development of the creative economy "Creative Code. Russia" will be held in St. Petersburg for the first time on October 9–10. This was reported by the organizers.

      The launch of an official annual federal platform for the development of the creative economy and the formulation of concrete solutions to achieve the national goal — increasing the contribution of the creative industries to the country’s GDP to 6% by 2030 — will take place with the support of the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives, the Committee for Industrial Policy, Innovation and Trade of St. Petersburg, the Fund for the Development of Small and Medium Enterprises in St. Petersburg, and the Supreme Council of the United Russia party.

      The forum will take place during the days of the annual festival "Friends of Petersburg." One of the main attractions of the forum’s cultural program will be a total installation in the atrium of the Lakhta Center, designed by architect Sergey Meshalkin and created with the participation of students and young professionals as part of the creative laboratory of the "Friends of Petersburg" project.

      "The creative economy in Russia is developing four times faster than the economy as a whole. But the sector still has untapped potential. The President of Russia has outlined a strategic task — to strengthen the contribution of the creative industries to the development of the national economy. To achieve this, the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia is carrying out systematic work: forming a modern regulatory framework, helping regions create infrastructure to support creative businesses, and developing tools that allow entrepreneurs to unlock their potential. The 'Creative Code. Russia' forum will become our main annual platform for dialogue with business and the regions. Here we will discuss both existing challenges and new growth points, and most importantly — develop practical solutions for the development of the creative economy," noted Deputy Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Tatiana Ilyushnikova.

      Representatives of federal and regional authorities, heads of large businesses and state corporations, industry associations, service platforms, creative businesses, educational institutions and experts will take part in the forum.

      The business program will open with a plenary session featuring the leadership of the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia, dedicated to the strategy for the development of the creative industries. Discussions will cover 16 areas of the creative economy: folk arts and crafts, art industry, cultural heritage, leisure and entertainment, fashion (including jewelry), book publishing, performing arts, cinema, television programs and films, software, video games, media and news outlets, advertising and PR, design, architecture and urbanism, gastronomy, music. The forum will present the best practices of Russian regions and cooperation agreements will be signed.

      The expert track will include events for small and medium-sized businesses from the Committee for Industrial Policy, Innovation and Trade of St. Petersburg in cooperation with the Fund for the Development of Small and Medium Enterprises in St. Petersburg. Participants can expect immersion in creative economy trends. The focus is on communication with experts, creating a creative product, implementing innovations, effective management and positioning.
