Every fourth teacher in Nizhny Novgorod works in a village.

      October 5 is celebrated as Teacher's Day. On the eve of the professional holiday, Nizhgorodstat counted how many Nizhny Novgorod residents are employed in this sector.

      At the start of the new school year in the Nizhny Novgorod region, 39.5 thousand people worked in the field of general education. That is 1.2% more than a year earlier. Approximately one in four of them works in villages and rural areas. Another 3.4 thousand people combine teaching with other work.

      The educational process in schools is provided by 24.5 thousand educators. Most of them are teachers, but there are also speech therapists, defectologists, psychologists, caregivers, tutors and specialists in educational work.

      Almost 90% of teachers have more than three years of experience, and 85% of teachers have higher pedagogical education. At the same time, about a third of teachers are under 40, just over half are between 40 and 60 years old, and one in six is over 60.

      The most common subjects remain primary education, Russian language and literature, foreign languages, mathematics, physical education, as well as history, social studies, economics and law.

      It was previously reported that residents of Nizhny Novgorod will spend more than 3,000 rubles on a gift for the class teacher for Teacher's Day.
