You do everything so that children, adolescents, your pupils may acquire the knowledge necessary in the modern world and a firm moral foundation. That means they can feel confident in adult life, achieve successes that will determine their own fate and the fate of our country. Your work deserves society’s respect and, perhaps more than any other, requires patience, wisdom, generosity of spirit, the ability to see in each child a spark of talent and ability, to help them understand themselves and the world around them. Today’s holiday evokes especially warm feelings among millions of our fellow citizens. It is dear and important to those who are now studying in schools, colleges, vocational schools and universities. To their parents, relatives, to all Russian families. To the adults who, after many years, look back on their teachers with gratitude — and I am sure that in our country such people are an overwhelming majority. We are proud of our own very strong teaching tradition, innovative ideas and unique developments. After all, it is precisely high-quality education, including basic school education, that is the guarantee that our country can solve the most complex tasks and achieve scientific and technological leadership. It is important for us to preserve continuity in teaching traditions so that teachers can learn from their colleagues, and strong, interesting methodologies can become widely disseminated and accessible everywhere across the country. Professional skills competitions play a huge role here, the results of the main one — the All-Russian competition — as always, are summed up for Teacher’s Day. We truly have a great many talented, wonderful, genuinely passionate teachers whose example inspires both colleagues and students, schoolchildren who are only beginning to choose a profession. That means the best traditions of domestic pedagogy will certainly continue.
