      A criminal case has been opened in the Voskresensky District after a fatal road traffic accident in which a child died, the press service of the Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod Region reported.

      According to available information, on the evening of October 4, near the village of Bystrets, a drunk man, while driving a passenger car, lost control and crashed into a tree.

      At the time of the crash his 8-year-old daughter was in the vehicle. The child died at the scene from her injuries.

      The Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod Region has opened a criminal case under the article on violation of traffic rules by a person in a state of intoxication that negligently caused a person's death.

      The circumstances of the incident are currently being established.

      The Nizhny Novgorod Region Prosecutor's Office has taken the investigation under its control.

      Earlier it was reported that three people, including a child, were injured in a collision between a passenger car and a police car in Bor.
