Lyulin: "Russia is ready for dialogue with the West, but taking into account our national interests"

Speaker of the regional parliament Evgeny Lyulin commented on the Russian president's speech at the Valdai Forum, stressing that the head of state delivered a harsh assessment of the West's attempts to dictate its rules to the world and outlined the contours of the emerging world order.
It should be recalled that on October 2 Vladimir Putin spoke at the plenary session of the 22nd annual meeting of the Valdai International Discussion Club. His speech focused on the global security architecture, relations with the United States, India and China, as well as the situation surrounding the conflict in Ukraine. Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Evgeny Lyulin highlighted the key points on his social media and supported the president's assessment of the actions of the collective West.
Lyulin relayed the figurative comparison the president used to describe the international situation: "There is no counter to a crowbar except another crowbar." According to the speaker of the Legislative Assembly, that is how Putin characterized the current balance of forces.
The politician also noted that, in the Russian leader's assessment, the West has "painted itself into a corner" in trying to impose its own rules on the rest of the world. At the same time, Russia, despite unprecedented sanctions, remains open to negotiations and dialogue.
Lyulin added that attempts to make the country "suffer" have failed: the sanctions did not produce the expected effect. According to him, on the battlefield the entire NATO bloc is effectively acting against Russia, but these efforts are being thwarted by the heroism of Russian servicemen and the capabilities of the domestic defense-industrial complex. He stressed that the President announced the advance of the Russian Armed Forces along the entire line of contact in the special military operation zone and called "absurd" the conjectures about a planned Russian attack on European states.
Separately, Lyulin recalled Vladimir Putin's words that Ukraine continues to be supplied with weapons, but those who call Russia a "paper tiger" still cannot deal with it.
"Nevertheless, our country is ready to engage in dialogue with the Trump administration, as with the entire West. But only on the condition that our national interests are taken into account. The unipolar world is over forever, and the West will have to learn to negotiate," concluded Evgeny Lyulin.
