A tourist route featuring the region's mascots has opened in Nizhny Novgorod.

      October 3, 2025 13:43 Culture and Leisure From October 4, residents of Nizhny Novgorod and visitors to the city will be able to embark on a journey along a new family tourist route (0+) "Path of Discovery" through Nizhny Novgorod, announced by the region’s mascots — the fawn NiNo and the woodpecker Gor. This was reported by the Ministry of Tourism and Crafts of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

      “We are pleased to present a new exciting family tourist route through Nizhny Novgorod from our mascots — the mischievous fawn NiNo and the wise woodpecker Gor. This project will allow residents and guests of our city to get acquainted with the history, culture and sights of Nizhny Novgorod in a playful way, preserving vivid impressions and warm memories. Travel, learn new things and enjoy the unique atmosphere of 100% real Russia!” said Sergey Yakovlev, Minister of Tourism and Crafts of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

      As the project authors said, to become a participant in the quest, you need to receive a task from the mascots at the tourist information center on the territory of the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin. During the journey along the route participants must complete tasks, take photographs at each site and collect nine stamps. At the finale of all challenges the winners will receive certificates and commemorative prizes.

      “Participants of the 'Path of Discovery' route will be able to ‘meet’ the founders of the city, decipher the message of the first inhabitants of Nizhny Novgorod, learn the history of the funicular’s appearance and even ride it,” the project authors explained.

      The new route was developed by the Ministry of Tourism and Crafts of the Nizhny Novgorod Region and is aimed at promoting the region’s tourist potential — this is one of the objectives of the national project "Tourism and Hospitality."

      Detailed information about the route will be available from October 4 on the website ninogor.ru.

      Recall that the national project "Tourism and Hospitality" was launched in Russia in 2025 at the initiative of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin. It envisages the development of infrastructure, production of equipment, training of personnel for the tourism sector, promotion of travel around Russia, as well as ensuring quality service and safe, convenient trips.
